Some say the world will end in fire, some say in ice. From what I’ve tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate to say that for destruction ice Is also great and would suffice.❞
“My life was an unending, unchanging midnight. It must, by necessity, always be midnight for me. So how was it possible that the sun was rising now, in the middle of my midnight?”

Love begins at home, and it is not how much we do… but how much love we put in that action.

In the mid sixteen-hundreds, Carlisle Cullen was born into a very religious household. His father was a widower whose profession was one of a pastor. As a “crusader against evil” as he often called himself, Carlisle’s father taught him that there was a very fine line between the good people and the evil people in this world, and that it was their duty to hunt the evil ones down. When Carlisle got older, he slowly came to realize that his father was an compassionless and cruel man, and that half of the people who he condemned to be burned or hanged as witches and so forth were innocent. Even though he wanted nothing to do with his father’s job, he stood silent when he was placed in charge of some of these raids that his father put together, wanting to do some good in light of all the years that his father had done wrong. Unlike his father, Carlisle was smart enough to track down an actual nest of vampires, but it quickly turned sour. Two of his men were killed when a thirsty vampire was lured out, and he himself was injured. So in fear for his life, he crawled to a nearby cellar and waited the transformation out, not making a sound during the agonizing burn that took place only to be horrified when he came to once again in realization that he was one of the things that he’d previously been hunting.
Stricken with grief, Carlisle tried to end his life several times, but he could never succeed. At last he tried to simply starve himself to death. He kept himself away from humans, even though his newborn thirst was almost unbearable, he refused to be a monster like the one who attacked him and his men that night. Months passed before he finally fed. He was passing by a herd of deer when he couldn’t control himself and attacked. Finally he figured out that it was possible to survive on animal blood rather than drinking the blood of and killing human beings. From then on Carlisle lived his life as best he could, trying to accept what had been done to him. He lived a simple yet solitary life for a couple centuries, happy with the knowledge he possessed, and his ability to eventually help people as a doctor when he became lonely, wanting a companion. Although he was unwilling to turn anyone at random just as he was, his wish of companionship was eventually granted when Elizabeth Masen, a patient of his, begged him to save her son by any means necessary, somehow knowing that Carlisle wasn’t as normal as he pretended to be. Obliging the dying woman’s last request, Carlisle turned a human into a vampire for the very first time. From then on, his family grew. In 1921, they gained another member of their growing coven. Esme Platt, a patient who he had treated before had been found by Carlisle in th morgue, still alive but barely. Drawn in by his memory of her being a happy girl, he turned her and the two fell in love.
The Cullen family only grew thanks to the additions of Rosalie, Emmett, Alice, Jasper, and later Bella along with Renesmee joined. Carlisle couldn’t have been happier with his family. Even when the Volturi were threatening them, he had good faith that they would all be alright, and did anything he could to help his adopted children and wife through the hard times. In 2017, Carlisle was face with another hard decision when the word that the Volturi had a new prospect going reached the Olympic Coven by his good friend, Eleazar. While he knew that not all of his family was for picking up shop and moving all the way to the large island in Italy, he took charge and insisted that they go with their Denali friends, figuring that they might be able to have a somewhat normal life there on the island. However, he soon realized that there wouldn’t be many vampires like themselves there. Most of the vampires in Sardinia fed on the human citizens and the tourists, and didn’t understand the Cullen’s diets. But there was one vampire in particular who caught his eye. A young one, just barely past being a newborn named Bianca Shelby had first approached him, apparently wanting to be a doctor but not having the means to control herself around humans. For the past few months, Carlisle has mentored her, trying to help her through and tell her the benefits of drinking animal blood rather than human. After all, a vampire converted is human lives saved.B E H I N D T H E S C E N E S
